The deadline to enter golf and singles tennis in the Iowa Games competition is today. Iowa Games executive director Jim Hallihan says the registration deadline for 20 more sports is coming up one week from today.Hallihan says people get busy with summer activities and forget to sign up as he says the deadline catches up to you pretty fast.Hallihan says his office gets deluged with paperwork as the deadlines approach, but it’s not as bad as when they used to require a registration for every athlete in every sport. Now members of a team can sign up on one sheet of paper.Hallihan says basketball and soccer entries are the benchmark for how many athletes will participate.He says basketball went down for the first time in five years, while soccer took an upswing — giving him mixed messages. The Iowa Games are in Ames July 12-14th.
