The conservative republican who staged a strong challenge of Congressman Greg Ganske in the G-O-P primary for U-S Senate earlier this month is organizing a new political organization. Bill Salier calls it WHAMPAC — which stands for Winning Hearts and Minds Political Action Committee. On primary night, Salier urged his supporters to “keep the faith” and to stay focused on winning the “culture” war. *Salier campaign manager Chuck Laudler says “winning hearts and minds” was Salier’s campaign theme.Laudler says the goal is to keep Salier campaigning — not as an independent candidate in November — but to continue the culture war.Laudler says Salier will campaign on behalf of conservative candidates for the Legislature, and may run again for the U-S Senate in six years. WHAMPAC will host a reception Friday night in Cedar Rapids on the eve of the Iowa Republican Party’s state convention.
