When students return to Fairfield High in the fall, they’d better be covered as there’s a new dress code.Popular and skimpy clothes like short-shorts, ultra mini-skirts, halter tops and tops with spaghetti straps are now banned from the high school halls after complaints about students’ dress, or lack thereof. Bra straps must be covered, and boxer shorts and thongs are not to be seen. Shirts with “immoral or “questionable” words or pictures are also banned. Headwear, including caps and bandanas, are no-nos, too. If a student shows up wearing something a teacher or administrator deems inappropriate, they’ll be asked to cover up or change clothes. If a student can’t fix their outfit at school, they’ll be sent home to change. Faculty members say the new guidelines will reduce the number of distractions in the school, so everyone can concentrate on learning rather than on what color underwear students are wearing.
