The move to approve a ceremonial banner takes another step forward. A day after the House gave its okay in Washington, Iowa Senator Charles Grassley said he’s introduced a resolution in the US senate, to designate an official flag in honor of service people who’ve been awarded the Medal of Honor. The banner’s designed to resemble the star-spangled ribbon that holds the medal, and Jefferson veteran Bill Kendall says he was moved to create it in honor of World War Two pilot Darrel Lindsay. The Medal of Honor is the highest award given for valor while on duty in the US military, and there are just 143 living recipients of the award today.
