Steve King, the republican candidate for western Iowa’s Congressional seat, says he’s aiming for at least 55 percent of the vote in November, as a “land-slide” will give him the freedom to pursue his conservative agenda. There are 58-thousand more registered Republican voters than Democrats in the Fifth Congressional district, which covers 32 western Iowa counties.King says despite that edge, he won’t take victory for granted. King says Republican fortunes in the races for Governor and U-S Senate will rise with a big turnout in the district. King, a state Senator from Kiron, says he’ll wait to see if he wins in November before resigning from his seat in the Legislature. King made his comments during taping of the Iowa Public Television program, “Iowa Press,” which airs tonight.
