One of the University of Iowa’s nerve centers was damaged in this week’s strong storms. U-of-I spokesman Steve Pradarelli says there was a roof leak at Calvin Hall, which contains the university’s main admissions office. The roof is being replaced and heavy rain got into the building, damaging some of the offices. A record number of freshmen students are expected at the U-of-I this fall, all of whom will have to make at least one trip to Calvin Hall, but Pradarelli doesn’t foresee any trouble. He says they had to move around some people in the building, but there shouldn’t be any impact on the admissions operation. Some 42-hundred freshmen are expected at the U-of-I next month, beating last year’s class of four-thousand-five.
