A western Iowa animal lover and doctor died in what can only be considered the line of duty. A 39-year-old veterinarian from Dunlap drown Wednesday afternoon in a Crawford County pond. David Funk had gone into the pond to retrieve a calf. Witnesses couldn’t find Funk after he went under. The body was found later by authorities.
