Iowa’s oldest man has died. Paul Flora was 108-years-6 months-and-28 days old when he died yesterday morning at his home in Marble Rock. Flora had been Iowa’s oldest living man for the last six months after another man who was 109 at the time had died. Flora’s wife Dianna died in 1997 after being married for almost 80 years, and they were recognized as the longest married couple in Iowa on World Marriage Day in 1995. Flora was born in Butler County in 1893, farmed most of his life, and was known by his neighbors and friends as “the songbird” because he always whistled or sang. Funeral services for Paul Flora are set for 10:30 Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Greene.
