State officials are investigating a drowning that occurred Sunday in Van Buren County. Fifteen-year-old Timothy Allen Schafer of Wayland drowned while swimming in a farm pond north of Douds. Emergency crews were called to the scene, pulled Schafer from the water and transported him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 7:30 Sunday night. His funeral will be held tomorrow morning.
