Cedar Rapids Kennedy beat Urbandale, five-to-three, to advance to the Class 4-A semifinal round. Kennedy’s Mitch Walser hit a solo homer in the second inning. Then, Walser hit a three-run homer in the third.Urbandale had knocked Kennedy out of last year’s tournament, but Kennedy coach Bret Hoyer says this wasn’t really a “revenge” victory for his team as it’s a different team this year.Hoyer says having Walser hit that homer in the first was key, as it picked the team up right away and gave them the momentum.
