Drug-maker Eli Lilly has agreed to a settlement with Iowa and seven other states in a Prozac scandal. Bob Brammer, spokesman for the Iowa Attorney General, says the pharmaceutical company accidentally released the email addresses of hundreds of people who took the anti-depressant drug. Brammer says the email message was sent to 669 Prozac users and showed everyone’s email address, instead of being sent using a “blind” technique. He calls it a violation of consumers’ trust with sensitive personal information. Some of the recipients were Iowans. He says the Indiana-based Eli Lilly is taking steps to prevent the accident from happening again.Brammer says Iowa and the other states involved in the settlement will split 160-thousand dollars. The money will be used for consumer education, litigation and public protection.
