Vice President Dick Cheney will be in Des Moines Tuesday to speak at a fundraiser for Republican Congressional candidate Stan Thompson. Cheney’s business dealings at a Texas oil company have come under scrutiny in the wake of the accounting scandals that’ve swamped Wall Street. The Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating Haliburton accounting during the period when Cheney ran the company, from 1995 to 2000. Thompson says he has no qualms about having Cheney in to campaign on his behalf.Thompson says he’ll press for business reforms should he be elected to Congress.Tickets to the fundraising breakfast at the Polk County Convention Center are 250-dollars each. Thompson is running against democrat Congressman Leonard Boswell, who has moved from Davis City to Des Moines to run in Iowa’s new Fourth Congressional District.
