Severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings were issued as large storms packing high winds and hail moved through southwest Iowa last (Friday) night. At least one twister touched down in Taylor County, where Mick Ware is the county emergency management director.Ware says golf ball-sized hail fell on the area and the strong winds knocked off tree limbs which fell onto power lines, cutting electricity to some residents. Utility crews were out late into the night. Ware says the slow-moving storm also disrupted the Lenox rodeo. The storm also forced the evacuation of the Page County Fair in Clarinda.
