Two southwest Iowa boys who tipped over tombstones in a Cass County cemetery are sentenced to community service rather than state detention at the home for boys in Eldora. The boys, who are 12 and 14 years old, have been sentenced to each perform 100 hours of community service. A tipster told police the duo had tipped over 11 markers in the Oakdale cemetery in Lewis. Officials say the boys were given a choice of doing community service or going into detention. They will paint curbs, trim trees and do other work to beautify the town. They must complete their community service before school starts. The gravestones are being repaired.
