The bill that provides “trade promotion authority” to the President, what used to be called “fast track” negotiating authority, is expected to come up for a vote this afternoon in the U-S Senate. Iowa Senator Tom Harkin, a demcorat, says he’s still not sure how he’ll vote.Harkin says they got the 307-page bill a couple of days ago and he’s still looking it over before he makes his decision. Harkin says he’d hoped to have more time to look over the bill.Harkin says one of his main concerns is a provision to end abusive child labor. He says his amendment to the bill on child labor was changed in the committee that molded the House and Senate versions of the bills together, and he wants to be sure that provision is still viable.
