A memorial service was held today in Storm Lake for a newborn infant found dead May 30th at an area recycling center. Buena Vista County authorities have still not identified the mother of the child. The service today was conducted by Reverend Mark Youngquist of Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake.He says “this child of god, his life, his death, has allowed each one of us to be a little more sensitive to the feelings of people who go through the loss of a child.” Youngquist says there was a purpose for the baby’s short life. He says none of the people gathered for the service had the chance to know the child personally, but his death touched each one of them. Following the service, several dozen blue balloons were released in the baby’s honor.
