Voters in Vedic City passed a five-percent hotel-motel tax on Tuesday on a vote of 17-to-one in the tiny town’s third-ever city election. Out of the town’s 166 residents, 18 of its 100 registered voters took part in the election. The increase in hotel-motel fees will go toward promoting tourism, advertising for the city’s three hotels and half will go to the city’s general operation fund. It may generate 14-thousand dollars a year.
