The Iowa State Cyclones open the football season tomorrow night against third-ranked Florida State in Kansas City. The Cyclones expect to have another solid ground game this season but coach Dan McCarney says they will need to pass effectively to have a chance against the Seminoles. He says aninexperienced offensive line must give Seneca Wallace time to throw.McCarney says this game will be a measuring stick for the program but, win or lose, an entire season will remain, and he’s not making this a must win game.As usual, Florida State has a number of weapons on offense. Cyclone defensive end Jordan Carstens says the defense needs to answer the challenge. Carstens says Florida State quarterback Chris Rix is similar to Seneca Wallace in their ability to run and throw.Carstens says playing against Wallace in practice has prepared them for the running ability of Rix.
