All firefighters in Iowa are being offered free tickets to a to a theatre performance in Des Moines next month which remembers some of the heroes of September 11th. The show called “The Guys” opened in New York City in December and is still drawing sell-out crowds. It’s a dialogue between a man and woman — a New York fire captain and an editor who’s helping him write eulogies for eight of his men who were killed in the terrorist attack. Ron Lambert is artistic director of the StageWest Theater Company in Des Moines, which is putting on the play. The show will be performed at the State Historical Building Auditorium. Audiences will be invited to make donations to the Iowa Firefighter’s Memorial in Coralville. Given the subject matter, Lambert says the theater company wanted to offer free tickets to Iowa’s own heroes.”The Guys” opens in Des Moines on September 5th with a performance just for firefighters. Other public performances are scheduled for September 6th-through-8th and 12th-through-15th, with two more shows in Algona on the 21st and 22nd. For details, surf to “www.stagewestiowa.com”.
