There were two, high-speed police chases in southeast Iowa yesterday. A Fairfield man was killed when the pick-up he was driving was hit by the car cops were chasing in Fairfield shortly before seven o’clock Tuesday. Bradley Comried of Center Point is now under arrest and faces a “homicide by vehicle” charge, as well as two speeding tickets and a charge of driving while barred. Authorities are testing items found in Comried’s car to determine if he’ll face drug charges, too. At about 8:30 yesterday morning, a truck going about 80 miles per hour raced by the accident scene with a Jefferson County Deputy in pursuit. Authorities say Dariush Tony Nikoofecker was behind the wheel of that truck. Police say he stole the truck in West Burlington, drove to Ottumwa, then made his way back east on Highway 34. During their pursuit, authorities threw down stop sticks which deflated the truck’s tires, but the driver kept going on the rims until he was stopped at a roadblock on the east end of Mount Pleasant.
