Waterloo and Cedar Falls leaders appeared before the Vision Iowa Board on Wednesday to reaffirm they haven’t given up plans for a River Renaissance. The 70-million dollar project -had- won a state grant but failed to win the approval of Black Hawk County voters for the matching funds. Waterloo Mayor John Rooff says he thinks another Vision Iowa grant is possible.Rooff’s enlisted the help of Cedar Falls Mayor Jon Crews, who says a focus group is meeting to determine what activities the public would like to see along the Cedar River. The project originally included a large recreation center, a river walk and a plaza, which won a 16-million dollar grant, money that was lost without the matching funds from the community.
