About two hundred well-polished, classic cars, trucks and other vehicles will leave Clear Lake today on the annual Motor Ioway Tour. John Swanson of Cedar Rapids is one of the trip’s organizers. He says the tour has a great diversity of cars. The collection of vintage vehicles will make a one thousand mile trek through parts of Minnesota, South Dakota and Nebraska before returning to Clear Lake late next week. Other Iowa stops include: Okoboji, Forest City, Algona, Estherville, Storm Lake, Onawa and Ida Grove. Swanson says the oldest vehicle on the tour is a 1927 Buick, and other vehicles range into the 1970s. Swanson says when the tour stops in various cities for food, gas or to look at attractions, droves of people always gather around and start to chat about cars. For details on the tour, which is cruising under the theme “Being Iowa Neighborly” this year, surf to “www.motormemories.com”.
