Vision Iowa board members will meet Wednesday in Council Bluffs and they are expected to receive another visit from a delegation from the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area. They’re going make a second try at a getting a helping of Vision Iowa money, money they lost nearly two months ago. The cities of Waterloo and Cedar Falls are joining forces with the city of Evansdale, Black Hawk County and the Cattle Congress in signing a letter of intent for a new 81-million-dollar project, and they’re seeking nearly 16-million dollars from Vision Iowa. Projects included in the plan are improvements to the National Cattle Congress grounds, improvements to the trail system, and in the Cedar River area. A countywide referendum for a 72-million Riverfront Renaissance plan in Waterloo was nixed by voters August 20, which meant the 16-million dollars originally awarded to the city went back into the Vision Iowa pot. Waterloo City Councilman Harold Getty says it took a group effort to accomplish this second try.He says the four cities and the Cattle Congress got together and made a plan and people had a lot of input. Waterloo City Councilman Tim Hurley is also hoping the new proposal meets with little opposition.He just hopes it doesn’t re-create the rancor the community went through in August.
