The Environmental Protection Agency is sending a 200-thousand dollar grant to Iowa to help fund restoration efforts in Clear Lake. Congressman Tom Latham says the funding will go with 100-thousand dollars that was approved earlier this year for a Corps for Engineer Project. Latham, a republican, says the grant will help speed up an ongoing water quality restoration project in Clear Lake and the Ventura Marsh. The restoration project is an effort to improve marine life in Clear Lake. Latham says that this is just the beginning of continuing efforts from the legislature to improve recreational conditions. Latham is excited about the EPA grant because Clear Lake has always brought back childhood memories, and he has ties with it in his personal life as he has a son that live there. The Army Corps of Engineers is currently working on the installment of an aquatic restoration report to pave the way for specific project plans for Clear Lake in the near future.
