The Spirit Lake woman convicted on child endangerment charges in the highly-publicized death of her daughter, Shelby Duis, will have her appeal heard by the Iowa Supreme Court next month. The Court will hear arguments from Heidi Watkins’ lawyer on November 6th. Court papers indicate lawyer Michael Johnson will argue trial information should have been dismissed because of insufficient theories by the state. He also argues the court should’ve found Watkins “not guilty” because reasonable doubt existed, and the charges were constitutionally vague. A request for a new trial was turned down earlier this year by the Iowa Court of Appeals.
