Authorities in Monona County have identified the two victims in a fatal car crash yesterday as a mother and her five-year-old son. The Monona County Sheriff’s department says 33-year-old Leann McKibben and her son Max of rural Mapelton were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other children were in McKibben’s vehicle were taken to a Sioux City hospital. The driver of the second vehicle, 19-year-old Brandon Palmer of Mapleton, received minor injuries.
