Three more Area Education Agencies are merging, part of an over-all attempt to downsize the agencies which provide training for teachers A-E-As two, six and seven — with offices in Cedar Falls, Marshalltown and Clear Lake — are the latest to merge. Dr. Richard Ployer, head administrator for A-E-A six, says this has been in the works for well over a year, to restructure the A-E-As to reflect enrollment losses.The A-E-As are financed on a per pupil basis, so A-E-As like Ployer’s have suffered budget cuts. Dr. Ployer hopes the merger will help fill holes that’ve been caused by streamlining.This is one of several mergers designed to maximize the resources of the A-E-As.
