Two Iowa schools collide in the first round of a men’s basketball tournament in Lincoln, Nebraska as Buena Vista plays Briar Cliff. Buena Vista is 2-0 after an overtime win against Dordt College on Tuesday night and coach Brian Van Haaften says it is part of a demanding early season schedule for his team. Van Haaften likes the potential of his team, especially inside. Van Haaften says young players are getting experience on the wings, and if they can hang in there, Van Haaften believes the team will get better as the season wears on. Haaften says Briar Cliff is a difficult matchup, but a difficult schedule will help preparew them for the Iowa Conference race. Briar Cliff is 1-2 after a 94-79 loss to Morningside on Tuesday night.
