A dispute over water released from a northeast Iowa lake this past summer is now going to court. Eleven residents and business owners in the Monticello area have joined in a civil suit against the Lake Delhi Recreation Association. The group claims the Association failed to properly control the flow of water from the Lake Delhi dam when heavy rains and flooding hit the area in early June. The group says the gates of the dam were opened, and a surge of water flowed downstream, causing widespread flooding. The plaintiffs are asking for money to cover the costs of repairing the flood damage and as well as money to cover the loss of value and income to their properties.
