Trouble on the road hurt Iowa State in the second half of the season and the Cyclones will finish with one more road game against a rated foe when they play 18th-ranked Boise State in the Humanitarian Bowl in Boise. McCarney says it will be like having a game in Ames and inviting someone in to play.McCarney says the Cyclones will try to practice as much as possible outside to prepare for what could be winter-like conditions. He says they’re able to stay outdoors since there’s now snow. Playing a team in its own stadium is unusual for a bowl game but McCarney says it is fitting for this season in which they’ve played several ranked teams on the road.Boise State is 11-1 and won the Western Athletic Conference title.
