DNR investigates fish kill near Mount Pleasant

The Iowa D-N-R is investigating a fish kill along six miles of Big Creek in Henry County near Mount Pleasant. D-N-R spokesperson Karen Grimes says there were several varieties of fish killed. She says they found about 50 fish in one pool, but she says it’s difficult to get a good estimate as there’s ice on the stream. The exact cause is unknown.She says there are a number of potential sources and they’re going to take samples from each source and send them to the lab. She says it’ll take about two weeks to get the samples back.
