Accused child-killer Donald Boss was the final witness at his murder trial in LeMars on Tuesday. The 38-year-old Remsen man testified he spanked but did not beat their ten-year-old adopted son on the day he died. Boss said he used plastic zip ties to anchor a chair to a shelf so Timothy couldn’t use it as a ladder to get out of the room. He said his wife, Lisa, also spanked the boy that day for things he’d said and done. He said his wife couldn’t hold the boy’s hands and spank him at the same time, so he tied his hands behind his back with zip ties and told his wife it was maybe something he could do.Boss told his attorney, Mike Williams, the ties were removed and when he checked on the boy later, he was tied up and a brother, Rudy, was in the room. Boss testified he told his wife to call 9-1-1 because Timothy wasn’t breathing, but she didn’t call. He also testified about burying Timothy in the basement. Prosecutor Chuck Thoman claimed the Remsen man told many lies to detectives. He admitted to concealing the boy’s body and hiding his death. Boss also says he didn’t call for help for the boy. Williams asked Boss a final question, if he killed Tim. Boss responded that he did not.The trial continues today.
