It was a record setting night at the Knapp Center as Drake posted an all-time school and Missouri Valley scoring record with a 162-110 victory over Grinnell College. Drake scored 73-points in the opening half and coach Kurt Kanaskie says it took some time for the Bulldogs to adjust to Grinnell’s racehorse style of play. He says other than a couple of times, they did handle the press after being a little startled at the start of the game. While a game between division-one and division-three teams may not create much interest Kanaskie says this one did because of Grinnell’s style of play. He says the game has gotten a lot of interest, but he doesn’t know if he’d schedule them again. Grinnell attempted 102 shots, Drake shot 50 free throws and scored 89-points in the second half. Kanaskie says the only thing more unusual than the game was the box score. He says the stats are ridiculous, but they’re happy to win and move on. Drake is now 4-4. Grinnell is 4-2.
