Catholic church leaders in Iowa are reacting to the news that Cardinal Bernard Law, the head of the Boston archdiocese, has resigned — after nearly a year of scandals involving priests accused of sexually abusing children. Monsignor James Barta of the Dubuque Diocese says it’s a shame what’s happened, from many angles. He says they are sympathetic and pray for everyone involved and hope all the wounds can be healed.The head of one victims’ group says he hopes people in the Boston area who were abused by priests will ”feel better” as a result of today’s news.
