The jobless numbers are almost steady for Iowa. Labor analyst Ann Wagner in the Iowa Workforce Development agency says the state’s unemployment rate fell two-tenths of a percent last month. The rate for October had been revised up a tenth of a percent to four-point-one, and year-ago November was three-point-seven percent. While the jobless rate was down fractionally, it was notably better than others. Iowa managed to run counter the national trend which saw a substantial jobless increase to six-percent from 5.7. Wagner says there were a couple bright spots in Iowa’s job picture, including the construction industry. This month because of mild weather they jsut kept working on projects, and she’s also seen increases in wholesale trade and government as well as construction. She says businesses have reduced their inventories to the point where they will have to replenish and hire people once again.
