The suspect in a high-speed chase in Boone County eluded officers for nearly three hours yesterday before he was caught near Madrid. Authorities say 34-year-old Randy Barnes ran from the law because he was wanted by Calhoun County authorities for theft and burglary. The high-speed chase ended in a farm field just north of Madrid when Barnes abandoned his car and took off on foot into a nearby woods. A 25-year-old woman who was a passenger in Barnes’ car was charged with interfering with official acts. Ames now faces charges in Boone County, added to the list of what he already faces in Calhoun County.
