Classes at the Northeast Hamilton School in Blairsburg in Hamilton County started two hours late this morning after an overnight break in and vandalism. Superintendent Roark Horn says it appears the vandal or vandals got into the school through the central office. He says they were apparently looking for money and computers and went from the office into the guidance office and classrooms, also possibly looking for money. While classes started late, Horn says it won’t hurt their schedule. He says they needed a delay to allow investigators to do their work, but the vandalism was minimal and they’re going to have a normal day of education. Horn says they aren’t sure how much money was taken. The break in happened between midnight and six am.
