Plenty of Iowa communities are holding eagle-watching events at this time of year, but only one has combined the viewing of the big birds with music and movies. Muscatine is holding “Eagles and Ivories” today and tonight, according to Melissa Marquardt at the Muscatine Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. Marquardt says people can spend the day watching the majestic birds soaring over the water and in the evening, enjoy ragtime music and watch vintage silent movies. She says it’s a thrill to see the bald eagles, sometimes several dozen of them, as they soar over the river and hunt for fish. For more information, surf to “[email protected]” or call 800-257-3275. Eagle watching events are also underway this weekend at Guttenberg, Keokuk and Bellevue.
