A man who apparently failed at an attempted murder-suicide, and was taken across the state line for emergency care, may be returned soon to Iowa to face charges. A Spencer man hospitalized in Omaha for a self-inflicted gunshot wound is in the custody of Omaha police. Assistant Clay County Attorney Mike Houchins says 71-year-old Harold Duncan was arrested yesterday (Monday) by Nebraska authorities. He was charged a week ago with first-degree murder in the death of his wife. Houchins says he doesn’t know if Duncan is “medically cleared” for travel, but does expect to find out today if Duncan will waive extradition procedures. Duncan was charged after Spencer police were called to his home on January 13 to find out why his wife Kay had not come to work that morning. Officers found her dead from a gunshot wound, and Duncan suffering from a gunshot wound to the face.
