Bitter cold air is streaming across Iowa and the National Weather Service has issued Wind Chill Warnings and Advisories for much of the Hawkeye State tonight. Forecasters say air temperatures without the wind may hit 15-below, along with the chance for more snow. Weather Service meteorologist Gary Forster says add the wind to the equation and it’ll be wicked.Winds may be up to 15-miles an hour, bringing some areas wind chill warning factors as low as 30 to 40-below. Forster says a person won’t be able to survive in that weather very long without good protection.Forster says there is hope on the horizon with a weekend warmup after these cold days. Highs could be in the 40’s by Monday and Tuesday.Just two weeks ago, Iowans were enjoying unseasonable record high temperatures in the 60s.
