After a heartbreaking home loss on Saturday, the Iowa Hawkeyes prepare for a three-game road trip which begins Wednesday night at Penn State. The Hawkeyes lost an 80-77 decision to Purdue Saturday night in overtime. With junior center Jared Reiner out with an injury, lack of depth became a major factor as Glen Worley and Greg Brunner both fouled out during regulation.Freshman guard Jeff Horner said it was tough for guys who aren’t used to playing to come in at key times. Horner tallied a career high 17-points and also added eight rebounds and six assists and had a chance to win the game at the end of regulation but his three-pointer bounced off the rim. He says he thought the shot was going in and says he tried to shoot it early to leave time for a tip in, but didn’t get off a good shot.Iowa coach Steve Alford says with Reiner out, the Hawks cannot afford foul trouble on the front line. He says unfortunately they have some guys who don’t understand how to stay out of foul trouble.
