The Iowa Hawkeyes open a three-game road trip tonight at Penn State. The Nittany Lions are 0-7 in the Big Ten but Iowa coach Steve Alford says they have been competitive in State College. He says their loss margin on the road is over 20, but only four or five points at home, including some close games against the top teams in the conference. Alford says Penn State will be ready to play, and says they’re probably looking at this game as one they can win. Penn State coach Jerry Dunn says freshman guard Jeff Horner has been impressive for the Hawks. He says Horner has played with a great deal of praise and done a very solid job for a freshman.Dunn says even without center Jared Reiner the Hawkeyes play in a similar fashion. He says they want to get the ball inside as much as they can and take away the inside game of their opponent. Dunn says Iowa has some very multidimensional guys, even with a shortened rotation.
