Two Cedar Falls high school standouts have signed on to play college football. Jonathan Zanders is projected as a free safety for the Hawkeyes and committed to Iowa as a junior. He says the honesty he got from the Iowa coaches was a big thing.Zanders says he was a little concerned when Kirk Ferentz’s name was connected to the N-F-L opening in Jacksonville. He says he wants to play for a coach who would pass up the N-F-L to stay in the college ranks. Cedar Falls kicker Brian Wingert has signed with Northern Iowa. Wingert had field goals of 46,47 and 50-yards this past season. He says UNI-Done, where Cedar Falls plays its home games, has been home to him for the last three years and he’s familiar with what it’s like to play there. Wingert says he was impressed with Panther coach Mark Farley, who says UNI is like a family.
