Governor Tom Vilsack says he and legislative leaders agree that revamping the state’s tax system can’t wait ’til next year, which is an election year. Vilsack met privately yesterday with key legislators. The four-hour meeting was closed to the public, and Vilsack defends that decision to meet in secret. Vilsack says it allowed him and lawmakers to spend time together in private, which he says developed “relationships of trust.”
