Over 500 people gathered at a Des Moines church yesterday afternoon to “Sing Out for Peace,” in the largest antiwar gathering yet in Iowa. There were songs, scripture readings and prayers. She says we should not repay evil with evil.Reverend David Ruhe, senior minister at the Plymouth Congregational — the host church for the event — led the prayers asking God to open our eyes to see the things that make for peace.Several choirs, including the Hispanic Choir of Visition and St. Peter’s Catholic Churches, performed.Hundreds of postcards were addressed to Iowa’s Senators and Congressmen, urging the politicians to oppose war with Iraq.
