The chef at the Happy Chef and other workers in Algona are not so happy after the place suddenly closed its doors. 43-year-old Anna Olson was a supervisor at the Happy Chef and says the 18 full and part-time employees are now out of work after the company shut it down without warning Monday. Olson says they had no clue what was about to happen. She says some workers got sick a couple of months ago due to a C-O-2 problem with the furnace, but she says they don’t know if that has anything to do with the shutdown. Happy Chef recently shut down its Chariton Happy Chef and has 26 left in the Midwest, including 10 in Iowa.
