Folks in a part of Delaware County are starting a fundraising effort to create a “living memorial” for veterans. Leo Woods is one organizer of a live auction and dance tonight at St Patrick’s school in the town of Ryan. He says response has been gratifying and people have “gotten the message” so he’s excited to get working on it. Woods says the memorial will include names of local vets from various branches of military service. They’re trying to solicit any family that’s lived around Ryan, for any amount of time, and put on the stone any and all names they can gather. Because it’s a fundraiser, admission is ten dollars for tonight’s event and that includes the auction, dance, and food that will be provided for the event.
