The drummer of the hard-rock band performing at the Rhode Island nightclub that went up in flames Thursday night is an Iowa native. Great White drummer Eric Powers grew up in Dubuque. His parents still live in Dubuque and they’ve spoken him. He’s o.k. At least 95 people were killed and another 180 were injured after a pyrotechnics display at a Great White concert sparked a fire. One band member — guitarist Ty Longley, is missing and presumed among the dead. Attorneys for the nightclub say the band didn’t have permission to use the pyrotechnics. Great White gained fame in the 1980s a heavy-metal “hair band.” Its most popular song is “Once Bitten, Twice Shy.”
