Some Iowa law officers got a look at high-tech equipment used to catch drug manufacturers and dealers over the weekend. Iowa Congressman Leonard Boswell hosted the demonstration of equipment by federal officials. He says some of the officers already know about the equipment, some don’t and he says it reemphasizes the drug problem in the state. Boswell co-founded the Congressional Methamphetamine Caucus. He says there’s federal help available for local law officers who want to obtain the equipment. He says many millions of dollars have already been put into, and we still need to fight it. Some says the U.S. is losing the drug war, but Boswell not sure that’s true. He says it’s hard to know with some 700 cases of drug busts, but he says it’s something we still need to focus on. Officers saw demonstrations of things such as thermal imaging cameras and contraband detectors.
