Forty-two State Champions will be crowned tonight as the state high school wrestling tournament concludes in Des Moines. New Hampton’s Mike Humpal is headed to the University of Iowa to play football but tonight weill try to win a second straight class 2A 215-pound title. Humpal advanced with a hard-fought 10-8 decision over Harlan’s Tobey Jacobsen. Humpal used a couple of late takedowns to earn the win. Humpal says he is looking forward to the chance to win another title, as it has been a goal he’s had all year. Also in 2A, Winterset heavyweight Kyle Lehmen held off a late rally by Fairfield’s Galen Read-Hess for an 8-7 victory and a spot in the final. He says he didn’t in his wildest dreams think he would make it to the finals. Lehmen had to hold off two near takedowns at the end to hold on for the win.
